Our School

The Grounds

The school is situated on the Surrey/Sussex border and is surrounded by 55 acres of playing field and woodland. The two main sporting areas boast three cricket pitches and five football and rugby pitches. The all weather surface provides space for three netball courts and four hard tennis courts. A small golf course and three playgrounds complete the range of outdoor facilities available.

Main Classroom Block

The building was commissioned in 1996 and houses the main teaching areas for the Prep School together with the Special Educational Needs Department and provides changing rooms for the younger age groups. The purpose built facility provides spacious accommodation in 9 light and airy classrooms.

The Theatre

Converted from the original school gymnasium, the theatre provides an intimate atmosphere for the numerous plays, concerts and lectures held during the school year. Tiered seating and modern lighting and sound systems all add to the audience’s enjoyment and allow pupils to experience a taste of professional theatre.

The Sports Hall

The modern sports hall houses a tennis court, netball court, four badminton courts and two cricket nets. Recently refurbished and extended it also now boasts a dance studio and viewing gallery. The sports hall is used thoughout the week for PE lessons and Games coaching. It is also used for a wide variety of after school clubs and activities.

The Swimming Pool

The recently installed cover, together with the addition of changing rooms, safety flooring and ambient heating allows year round use of this superb facility. All pupils from Reception to Year 8 benefit from regular swimming lessons. The pool is also used for competitive galas, life saving courses and sub-aqua.

The Chapel

The Chapel was built in the early 1900′s and extended in remembrance of those Copthorne Old Boys who lost their lives in the First World War. Daily acts of worship are held with the pupils taking an active role in the choir and during the weekly Form Chapel Services.
