Great Walstead arrived at Copthorne ready and geared up for their match. The visiting side went into bat first with their first two batters getting on the score sheet. Copthorne came back strongly with a run out on 2nd post and Elly, Vicky and Willow all taking catches in quick succession. From here the opposition quickly adjusted their strategy and started to find the gaps, easily picking up ½ rounders and before we knew it putting on the scoreboard a total of 8 rounders after the 1st innings....

The girls did a great job out on the rounders field at Cumnor. They coped well under the wet, rainy conditions and ran sensibility around the posts. Copthorne fielded first and Victoria was spot on with her bowling, not giving any extras away. As the innings went on the girls missed a few catches and run out opportunities but they managed to keep a positive attitude and restricted the home side to 6 ½ rounders. Our turn batting next and the girls were up for the challenge. All the girls watched...

Copthorne (5) – Cumnor (4)  It was not quite strawberries and cream weather but the rain did manage to stay away for the girls to complete their first tennis match of the term against Cumnor House. Copthorne’s 1st pair, Katie and Sofia, dominated the afternoon by winning all three of their matches with superb ground strokes and a wide variety of shots. If the wind was not making it hard to return the ball, Katie’s serves sure did the job of keeping the opposition on their toes. Roselly and...

Copthorne 2nd’s played hosts to Lancing on yet another very cold Wednesday afternoon. I could not have asked for more from the girls as they were up against a well drilled and skilful side.  It’s also tough when your tallest girls on the team are still short in comparison to the opposition but Katie and her team stuck to their game plan and took the challenge to the visiting team.  In the first quarter both teams had a good share of possession and territory, the work rate was also exceptional....

On a cold afternoon the U9 B’s were lucky enough to play their match indoors. Throughout the day the girls were excited and eager to get going and as soon as the opposition arrived they were in the zone. Copthorne dominated from the word go with Ilana battling to control the centre. The girls were on target with their passing and movement, allowing the attacking side of Haya, Katherine and Katie to dictate play and create chance after chance. The second quarter was much like the first with the...

Although today’s result was goalless, this match was very much exciting and entertaining. During every quarter the girls matched the opposition pass for pass, speed for speed and even interceptions kept the players on their toes for the entire game. Copthorne worked well with each other moving the ball out of defense quickly onto the attack where a few scoring opportunities were created but unfortunately not converted. Every girl on the team played well today, they kept moving and fighting for...

On Wednesday the U11 B’s took on Hurstpierpoint in their last indoor hockey game of the term. Despite the score line and a tale of two halves, this was an exciting game to watch. The visiting team dominated the first halve, by moving the ball with purpose off the boards allowing their forwards, who had plenty of speed and skill to create havoc for our defence. Eventually the play-makers for Hurst put one past Georgina in goal half way through the first half. If it were not for Elizabeth and Hannah...

On Wednesday Copthorne played hosts to Hurstpierpoint for the last indoor hockey fixture of the term. The home side were unfortunate not to have come away with a draw or a win as both teams missed chances throughout the match. In the first half there was not much to separate the two sides; possession and territory were split evenly. Loren in goal kept a watchful eye on any ball that entered her D and cleared away the danger when necessary. Liliana and Harriet were solid at the back, although still...
