3KW watched a fascinating clip about the discovery of the Pharoah Tutankamun’s tomb buried deep in a pyramid in Egypt in 1922. Howard Carter, a famous archaeologist, persuaded Lord Carnarvon to sponser the expedition. Shortly after he returned to England on business Carter made his now famous discvery. The children wrote postcards to Carnarvon from Carter asking him to return as quickly as possible to Egypt. The children drew all the wonderful gold objects that were discovered alongside his...

3KW had a wonderful afternoon with Stephen, an Egyptian Explorer, who came to visit for the day. He told us stories about the many Gods which the children then acted out and a little bit about life in Ancient Egyptian times. They enjoyed the story of  how the dead bodies were mummified and seemed to relish all the gory details! We are now going to perform a short Egyptian play for our assembly next week which we hope the parents will enjoy and give them a taste of what we experienced on our fun...

Year 4 have been learning about the Romans and Celts in History. Kieron Escott in 4TP was so inspired by what he learnt about the Celtic way of life that he went away and designed and built a Celtic Settlement over 4 days. His attention to detail is fantastic with him even dressing his Celtic farmer in an authentic linen tunic. Well done Kieron a superb piece of work! TAP

Year 3 have been looking at Greek architecture in History. We have looked at the remains of the Parthenon and with the help of Amardip’s book we have been able to see what it would have looked like in Ancient Greece. The children worked collaboratively in groups of three to create their own Parthenon from recycled materials in the classroom.

A big congratulations to all Year 4 who came into school dressed as Romans for their Roman Day. During the day they all had a go at designing and painting their own shields for battle. They used tiny ceramic tiles to create a beautiful mosaic photo frame and learnt how to use Roman numerals. In the afternoon they held a banquet, which Year 3 were invited too. On the menu was stuffed dormouse, flamingo eggs and tounge and fried snails! we had a visit from Emperor Jenkins too! A big thank you to all...
