The current Year 8 project is to design a band website. They first looked at existing websites and studied how the design matched the target audience. After choosing a name for their band and deciding on the band members, Year 8 then went about designing the layout for their website on paper. They are now in the process of creating the website in Frontpage. Keep a look out for ‘Boys Aloud’ and ‘Squelch and the Wellington Boots’!!
The Year 6 Editorial Team have been working with Publisher to design Newspaper front pages. They began by looking at the design of several daily papers. After collecting suitable news stories and pictures, they worked on the design and layout in order to produce a realistic front page aimed at an adult audience. Their 2nd assignment was to produce a child friendly newspaper front page with suitable stories and pictures designed to be colourful, bright and interesting to the younger audience.
Year 7 have worked for most of this term in Access. They have learnt how to set up a database, to input data and to create reports, queries and forms. They have all now been asked to help solve a crime that took place at Looneyville School. If you know anyone with brown hair, size 10 feet, who has access to sharp knives, doesn’t like PE Teachers and lives or works close to Looneyville School then please contact the Year 7 Investigation Team.
Pupils in Year 8 have just completed an Integrated Business Scenario. In order to make the work relevant they have spent the term planning a school fete. The aim of the project was to revise the use of several of the Office applications and to use them in a more realistic and meaningful way. In ICT this term we are learning about handling data and this week we were looking at databases with a game called WHODUNNIT! The database is full of criminals and we have to find out the culprits for the different crimes. You can only move onto the next case if you get the culprit right.
