Congratulations
Congratulations to Abigail & Kendra for their individual and group successes at the East Grinstead Music & Dance Festival. Kendra won 1st prize for her solo character dance as The Ugly Duckling, and the girls’ group won 1st prize for Nursery Rhymes. Abigail has also just received a distinction in her LAMDA entry exam, receiving 81%!
Lacey excels at Karate
Lacey at her karate grading in Hazlewick School after completing “dragon form one”. Lacey gained her green and gold belt.
Exam Results
Kendra was awarded a Distinction for her Primary ballet, and Abigail a Distinction in Primary ballet, Primary tap and Grade 1 Modern. Abi is doing Entry Level LAMDA in March and they are both doing the East Grinstead Arts and Music Festival in May and then a breather!! Phew! Thank you for all your support of them both, I watched the Nativity DVD with a huge smile as both girls so enjoyed the parts they were given to play.
Medals awarded at the Beckenham Festival of Music
Big congratulations to Abigail Guest and Kendra Betchley who were both awarded medals at the Beckenham Festival of Music, Dancing, Speech & Drama last weekend. Abi won a gold for her Modern, a silver for her Song & Dance, and Kendra won a gold for her Classical Character. Both girls gave little displays in our assembly - and they are obviously wonderful, professional performers. Well done indeed!
Zillian and Zevon’s “novel” idea
Over the summer, Zillian and Zevon Ruston read 7 books in 7 days to help raise money for Africa. Having watched a “Newsround” report on the devastating effects of lack of rain in parts of Africa, they were moved to help and came up with a “novel” idea to raise some money. Younger brother Cosmic support his older siblings and they raised over £230. Well done!
Crawley Junior Chess Tournament
In the Crawley Junior Chess Tournament on 23 July 2011 the Copthorne Prep team came first All Copthorne Prep pupils received special achievement prizes:- Gold Medal – Gabriel Jones Girls Year 8 Gold Medal – Madeleine Liu Boys Year 7 – Zevron Rustom Overall 3rd place – Daniel Gooda All Copthorne Prep entrants were incredibly well behaved and were a real credit to the school.
Kendra’s great dance!
During half term, Kendra competed in a dance festival at Cranbrook School (South East Regional Finals), her group won their class with Distinction with Special Commendation and have a place in the All England National Finals in London at the end of July. Kendra is rightly very proud of this achievement and is very excited by the prospect of dancing on a London Stage.
Congratulations to the Guests
Georgina and Abigail Guest have both been performing in the East Grinstead Music and Arts Festival Season with excellent results. Abigail was in the ’5 Years and under’ section and came second with a classical ballet. Georgina performed in the Drama section yesterday and was in a very competitive class, ‘Versatility12 years and under’. She was awarded first place with a Distinction and the ‘Jnr Theatre Cup’. Sam Guest gained his Red/Green sash at his Kung Fu Grading.. Well done to all the Guest children!
