U9A Rounders v Cumnor – Won 16½ – 6½

Amber captained the side today and got the team off to a good start by winning the toss and choosing to field first. All of the U9′s were nervous to begin with but as the innings went on they got tighter with their fielding, and there was some great work from Amber as backstop, Yelena as bowler and Ami on second post keeping the scoreline low and only allowing Cumnor to score from few opportunities. U9 National Chess Championships

Sussex second place with FIVE Copthorne players Five Copthorne pupils represented Sussex in the Under 9 national finals on Saturday 28th April. Sussex were beaten into second place by just one point.  Very frustrating after a great day’s chess but still a fantastic achievement. The Copthorne Five were Amalia Finnegan, Yelena Finnegan, Madeleine Liu, Adam Smith-Carretero and Gabriel Jones – they managed to score 12.5 points out of a possible 15. Special mention should go to Yelena and Adam, who both scored the maximum 3 points from 3 matches.
