COPTHORNE PREP SHOW JUMPING

Countdown to Copthorne Prep Show Jumping at Felbridge. Only 1 week to go! Saturday 19th May, Copthorne Prep will be hosting their second annual interschools show jumping event. Come and join us to cheer on our teams, meet the ponies or just lend a hand as any offers of help on the day would be very much appreciated. Jumping with Style National Qualifier – Berkshire

This Sunday the Show jumping team took a trip around the M25 to Berkshire Agricultural College where Cranleigh were hosting the “Jumping with Style” National Qualifier: a combined discipline of showjumping and cross country, judged on style,effectiveness and harmony between horse and rider. The weather was not kind to say the least and it was a blessing the competition was indoors.  In the 70cm class Copthorne were second team in and blasted out of the blocks,  all combinations  jumped well with Roselly,Georgia and Harriet all jumping clear, now it was  down to the all important judges style marks. Copthorne were announced read the full post »

“The West Sussex Raiders”

Copthorne equestrian now dubbed “The West Sussex Raiders” in their customary red livery pulled off the double at the NSEA Surrey County Championships on Sunday held at Bookham Equestrian centre. Jumping conditions on the outdoor grass course, with the recent rain were perfect, there was good cut in the ground and all the ponies were studded up for safety. The team comprised of Roselly Hamlett together with Georgia and Harriet Keenleyside. So not having a fourth member meant that each riders performance had to count, and didn’t they all perform. Back to Business

After the successful trip to the 2011 NSEA National Championships at Addington in October, it was back to business for Copthorne Show jumping. With Sophie Millers departure to Cranleigh, Amber Flaven has stepped up to be the new fourth member of the team (Congratulations to Amber) alongside regulars Roselly, Georgia and Harriet. The 2011/2012 show jumping season opened indoors at Golden Cross with Copthorne Competing in the 2ft 3″ Show jumping. The team and ponies performed well finishing fourth out of 22 teams. Georgia was the leading Copthorne rider being placed 4th out of 87 riders in the Individual. In read the full post »

Calling all Copthorne Horse Riders

After a fantastic Show jumping season where Copthorne came third in the South East of England Regional points League, won various regional tournaments, currently hold the Sussex County 2011 Champions title and were placed 3 out of 4 classes at the National Schools Championships, we are very much looking forward to the 2012 season.  Throughout the year, there are various competitions for all abilities in Dressage, Eventing and Show Jumping. Copthorne succeed at a fantastic show!

After a fantastic Show jumping season where Copthorne came third in the South east of England Regional points League (behind Mayfield and Cranleigh), won various regional tournaments and currently hold the Sussex County 2011 Champions title, It was off to Addington Manor , in the heart of Buckinghamshire, for the final event of the season the 2011 National Schools Equestrian Championships. The team had qualified for 4 separate events, that is an achievement in itself. More remarkable was that Copthorne were the only Prep School in the Tournament. NSEA County Show Jumping competition held at Royal Leisure

With Harry Hickmet and Sophie Miller on their Year 8 leavers trip and Georgia still out of action due to her broken collar bone, we were very pleased to welcome Amber Flavin onto the Show Jumping team. Amber joined the regulars of  Roselly and Harriet to compete at the NSEA County Show Jumping competition held at Royal Leisure.
