Our trip with a group of thirty pupils to Sadlers Wells to watch one of the many fantastic shows during Flamenco Week was a great success. The performers were the Ballet Flamenco of Andalucia and we saw dancers performing with castanets, ladies wearing traditional ‘bata de cola’ dresses, and listened to passionate yet soulful Flamenco singing. Some of the Year 8 have already experienced Flamenco during their trip to Madrid and it was wonderful to hear how they compared both musical experiences.
I will be handing out your revision material during registration on Monday 21st May. It will contain the vocabulary and grammar we have covered over the year. I have included some practise exercises for you to do to check how well you know some of your topics. Try to do a little everyday and use Linguascope to help you revise. In December a group of 38 year 7 & 8 pupils went on the school’s first trip to Spain. We spent three days in Madrid and we were based just round the corner from Puerta del Sol, a very central location. During our trip we visited two of the best museums in the world, La Reina Sofia and El Prado. It was a great opportunity for pupils to see some of the paintings they have studied especially Picasso’s Guernica. Buenos dias, I hope you all enjoyed our Copthorne’s first trip to Madrid. I would really appreciate it if you could hand in your worksheets that hopefully you have filled in, before the end of the week.
