Katie won the toss and invited Cumnor to bat first.  Having had very little team practice and with the threat of rain the girls were a little nervous!  The Cumnor girls were making good contact with the ball and were scoring rounder after rounder.  They finished the first innings with a total of 10½ rounders! Unfortunately, it was our turn to bat and the heavens opened!  Hailstones and heavy rain put paid to any concentration and with the pitch becoming very slippery the Copthorne girls were...

Despite the constant threat of rain and a sudden hailstorm we were lucky to play a whole match. Despite losing this was a fairly even sided game. Copthorne opened the batting and despite some accurate and very fast bowling from Cumnor we were able to score six rounders. Our fielding was tight too which prevented the opposition from scoring more than five. However it was in the second innings that we made some mistakes and with 6 good balls left we were down to one batter. As a result we did not score...

The girls won the toss and decided to field first. In the first innings, although Cumnor didn’t score many whole rounders, we gave away lots of half rounders through no balls and poor communication as to where the ball should be thrown. As the girls started to relax and focus, this got less and Charlotte started to bowl very accurately as well as catching someone out. Lottie had a very strong and accurate throw to Jemima on 2nd post when Cumnor had a backwards hit which stopped them scoring at...

We started off batting and Cumnor’s fielding was very good, we struggled to put anything on the scoreboard as their player on 2nd post had very safe hands. We hadn’t scored anything until Elise found space and got a rounder, with her quick speed and the slow fielding of Cumnor she managed to get all the way around. After watching Elise get us a rounder the girls started to switch on more and we were getting more ½ rounders by getting to 2nd post. Yelena then got a rounder from hitting the ball...

Asked to field on a cold and blustery afternoon it became clear that not only was the pitch easy paced, due to recent rain, but the Cumnor batsmen were very accomplished. Although generally the bowlers did well, virtually every wayward delivery was severely punished. Ben K was unlucky on several occasions and Jamie W and Ian also came away with some credit. On another front well done Ian for captaining the side really well in the absence of the unwell James, I thought you did a top job in difficult...

The girls did a great job out on the rounders field at Cumnor. They coped well under the wet, rainy conditions and ran sensibility around the posts. Copthorne fielded first and Victoria was spot on with her bowling, not giving any extras away. As the innings went on the girls missed a few catches and run out opportunities but they managed to keep a positive attitude and restricted the home side to 6 ½ rounders. Our turn batting next and the girls were up for the challenge. All the girls watched...

We lost the toss and were put in to bat. Copthorne scored 211, with no single batsman really making a big score though Zac (8), Charlie (7) and Freddie (6) were our top three run-scorers.  Luke and Bradley also contributed nicely with 5 runs each. In reply, Cumnor made 212, beating us by a single run.  This was a tense and exciting game, with every single ball gaining in importance as the came reached its climax.  Unfortunately we ended up narrowly losing, and regretting every small mistake that...

Amelia captained the U9 side today, choosing for Copthorne to bat first. The U9s were extremely motivated and focused which showed in their game, as they were like a different team! Their fielding was a lot tighter, with everyone remembering their triangles this week and backing each other up, resulting in Cumnor only being able to score one whole rounder in the first innings. There was also some great bowling and backstop work going on between Charlotte and Amelia, with Amelia also taking a great...
