Under 9A Cricket v Cumnor House

Cumnor House lost the toss and we put them in to bat. Cumnor made 217 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Cumnor batted quite well, but we also helped them along by giving away twice as many extras as they did when they bowled.  Our best bowler was Zach who picked up 2 wickets in his two overs.  Will G also bowled nicely, but otherwise we were quite errrant and expensive. We made 157 and lost 12 wickets in the process.  Our lack of match training was evident as most of our dismissals were down to run outs due read the full post »

U11 Rounders v Cumnor House Lost 5-16

Copthorne opened the first innings batting and although we made some excellent shots Cumnor’s very strong fielding prevented us from scoring many full rounders. Micki hit a great no ball and with Tori’s no ball it gave us an additional half rounder. However it was not enough as we ended with three and a half rounders. Although our fielding was not as strong as it has been we managed to get three of their players out. Unfortunately Cumnor were more accurate with their batting and by the end of the first innings they were 2½ rounders up on Copthorne. During read the full post »

U9A Rounders v Cumnor – Won 16½ – 6½

Well what a promising start to the season for the U9′s, and how nice to be playing rounders finally and to see the sun!! Amber captained the side today and got the team off to a good start by winning the toss and choosing to field first. All of the U9′s were nervous to begin with but as the innings went on they got tighter with their fielding, and there was some great work from Amber as backstop, Yelena as bowler and Ami on second post keeping the scoreline low and only allowing Cumnor to score from few opportunities. Copthorne read the full post »

U10A Rounders Triangle v Cumnor A&B

The girls started the 40 ball innings batting  and with the weather this week, we haven’t had the best of training sessions, but the girls went out and did the best they could. We ended the first innings with 7½.  Liliana scoring 2 whole rounders and Karina and Alys got one and most others playing safe and getting to 2nd post. We then went to field and after waiting for Cumnor to arrive we practiced are fielding and catching high balls, but they had two very good hitters who every time it was their turn to bat they got a read the full post »

Colts C v Cumnor

Colts C v Cumnor House   And so the first game of outdoor cricket this season was to be played away by the Colts  C. With the grass in the outfield long and the match being played on an artificial wicket a game of pairs cricket was decided upon. Cumnor won the toss and decided to put our boys into bat, Conrathe and Rose were first up  followed by Obikoya and Gache some middle order hitting from Kroeger and Alexandru kept the score board ticking over, Young and Gooda tried hard to keep the momentum going and Fry and Sparrow read the full post »

2nds XI vs Cumnor

After the wettest April on record and a miserable start to May it was a minor miracle that we were able to play at all today. The boundaries were shortened to avoid the waterlogged areas, and after discovering that cricket balls failed to bounce on the sodden strip the match was played with a lighter, plastic ball. Skipper Singleton won the toss and put Cumnor in to see what they would make of the conditions. This was literally the first time the team had been on the square this season, but you’d never have guessed that as our opening attack read the full post »

U10B Rounders v Cumnor- Lost 17-9

This week the U10B team took on Cumnor House at rounders. After not having done much because of the weather the girls were a little nervous, plus it was some of the girls first ever rounders match. After having a little warm up and some bowling practise Cumnor arrived and we were ready to begin. This week we played 27 good balls and decided that after 2 ‘no balls’ the batter would have to run on the third. This was to ensure the game kept flowing and everyone got a good innings batting and fielding. Copthorne batted first and didn’t read the full post »

2nd IX Rounders v Cumnor U12B – Won 6½-3

First priority is to tell the girls that the daisies look very pretty and that they should be left in the ground Second priority is match preparation, with a few little tests of my own they all passed to fulfill their positions. This team was put together and with 3 girls playing up, so a good team spirit was required. Cumnor arrived with 12 girls and we just had 9 players.  Francesca took the honours of being a Captain and we went into bat first. Copthorne girls didn’t really show their true colours at first and a message from myself read the full post »
