This week the U8s went to Hurst to take part in a mini netball tournament. Hurst had 3 teams, Handcross Park had 1 team and we had 2 teams. The girls all played 5 matches with each match being 6 minutes long. Despite the cold the girls were keen and excited to play. All the girls played really well and enjoyed playing against all the different teams. Copthorne A team won 3 games with Annabel Preen and Callie Benedict being the goal scorers. They drew 1 and lost 1, so overall a fantastic result. My...

On Wednesday the U11 B’s took on Hurstpierpoint in their last indoor hockey game of the term. Despite the score line and a tale of two halves, this was an exciting game to watch. The visiting team dominated the first halve, by moving the ball with purpose off the boards allowing their forwards, who had plenty of speed and skill to create havoc for our defence. Eventually the play-makers for Hurst put one past Georgina in goal half way through the first half. If it were not for Elizabeth and Hannah...

Well what an afternoon despite the weather! This was the first time I have seen this year group and team play netball and I was extremely impressed. From the onset the girls displayed a high level of skill and positional play for children of their age. There were some strong and accurate passes between the players and the opposition found it very difficult to overcome our defense. There were some fantastic interceptions from Sheen and Haya whilst Ilana, Katie and Kitty were tireless in their play....

On Wednesday Copthorne played hosts to Hurstpierpoint for the last indoor hockey fixture of the term. The home side were unfortunate not to have come away with a draw or a win as both teams missed chances throughout the match. In the first half there was not much to separate the two sides; possession and territory were split evenly. Loren in goal kept a watchful eye on any ball that entered her D and cleared away the danger when necessary. Liliana and Harriet were solid at the back, although still...

Another rugby season is upon us and once again expectation and enthusiasm are high. The opponents were played at football 2 weeks ago and from those encounters it was clear that it was not going to be a walk in the park! A combination of events had deprived us of a number of training sessions, however we approached the game with a brand new team and a positive outlook. If we all do our jobs and make our tackles we should give a good account of ourselves. From the opening exchanges it was clear...

It was the U9s last match of the term and year today, and despite the cold and wet English weather again, the girls did not disappoint! Amelia captained the side today and although she lost the toss for the first centre pass her and Rosie both defended brilliantly, turning the first centre pass over in Copthorne’s favour resulting in a super goal from Ella D! Despite the good start the U9s were a little unfocused today with their play in the first quarter resulting in mistakes being made and...

The Colts A got their season off to a flying start romping home 34 – 5 against the visiting St. Christopher’s. Unveiling the new Copthorne rugby shirts for the first time the boys took to the field to a huge cheer from the capacity crowd of parents and family alike. Right from the kick off we meant business, applying pressure up the pitch and dominating the tackle and ruck area. We were disciplined in defence, holding channels and pressing up as one line; forcing the opposition to make mistakes...

First and last netball match of 2012! What a result for the Copthorne girls too! It was wet & cold but the weather did not interfere with a great performance from team Copthorne. They were ready to show how strong, committed & energetic play they had in them. Chloe was so strong in the middle, her opponent couldn’t keep up with her pace on court. It was a breeze up front in the attacking third, where Prisha was working her socks off to supply good balls to our amazing GA, Chloe! Harriet...
