Another win for the U10s to end the term with! The girls went into bat first and we started off slowly! We were being too nice with our hitting and not hitting the ball hard enough so that we could get to 2nd post to score ½ a rounder. Until Madeleine went into bat and smashed the ball into the space that she saw and scored one rounder. Holly had an unlucky game yesterday being caught out in both her chances to bat even though both times it was a no ball. Emily and Amber had a strong game when the...

Although we didn’t win the toss, Copthorne was determined to set the pace batting first. Initially our batting wasn’t as strong as it can be however as a result of several no balls and some great shots and sharp judgement from the girls we managed to enter fielding with 9½. Our bowling was strong and Great Walstead found it difficult to score especially as there was some strong fielding- we managed to get 8 batters out with 5 good balls left. Our passing was accurate and fast and it wasn’t...

Great Walstead arrived at Copthorne ready and geared up for their match. The visiting side went into bat first with their first two batters getting on the score sheet. Copthorne came back strongly with a run out on 2nd post and Elly, Vicky and Willow all taking catches in quick succession. From here the opposition quickly adjusted their strategy and started to find the gaps, easily picking up ½ rounders and before we knew it putting on the scoreboard a total of 8 rounders after the 1st innings....

In the absence of Captain Katie, Roselly stepped up to win the toss and put Great Walstead into bat first. They scored a rounder off the first ball and really woke our fielders up! Another ½ was made by the next batter - and then we settled down, with Jess making 2 fabulous catches one after the other on the 8th and 9th deliveries. Micki and Tori were kept busy in the deep field and quickly threw the ball back into the diamond to stop any score. Izzy made a catch just beyond 4th and Chloe...

Well what a spectacular afternoon of rounders today for the U9s, and a great way to end the half term! Although Great Walstead were a good team I do not feel the scoreline reflected the true account of the match today, and the U9s were indeed the worthy winners! From the word go the U9s geled well together on the pitch demonstrating some super fielding, always BACKING each other up, which was again commented on by the oppositions coach! There was also some super-sonic batting today with 7 whole rounders...

Today the girls were ready for their second match of the week. Today’s Captain was Sophia Vieira as she was my player of the match on Monday’s game. Today we lost the toss and so batted first. During the first innings the girls found the bowling quite tricky to hit off. However full rounders were scored by Callie Benedict, Emma Nathaniel and Emily Goodfellow. After their first bat the girls had a total of 8½ … a good score! The girls were also on the ball when they were fielding,...

This week the girls took on Caterham at rounders. Our captain for the day was Callie Benedict who won the toss and decided to field first. The girls fielded well during their first innings with a great catch from Emma Nathaniel who also bowled beautifully. Caterham had some good batters and they scored a total of 7 rounders. It was Copthorne’s turn to bat with a target of 7 to beat. The girls batted well despite no full rounders being scored. During the second innings the girls were determined...

Susannah captained the team today and got the girls off to a good start winning the toss and putting Caterham in to bat first. Abigail bowled really well and delivered some lovely straight balls to the batters. Our fielders were a little disorganised at times, not really knowing where to throw the ball, and the Caterham girls took advantage of this and scored some good rounders, ending the innings with 8 rounders. Our girls then went in to bat and we saw rounders from Jemima, Abigail and Susannah...
