Congratulations to: Rebecca Frost, Alice Renshaw and Ben Voller who have qualified for the IAPS National Swimming Championship Finals next term.

This was a very loud and exciting gala. The Copthorne Cheerleaders were in fine form, ably led by Mr Mendola, and they certainly won the ‘who can make the most noise’ event?!? The swimming results were variable although, as always, everyone who swam tried their hardest. It would be good to see a few more of the team at training on a Tuesday and Thursday as this would undoubtedly make a difference. Many thanks to the ‘B’ Team swimmers who stepped in once again to cover for...

What a way to get the first swimming gala of the new academic year! All swimmers competed to the best of their ability resulting in a close gala against Hurst. Copthorne winning 71 – 64 Hurst raced into the lead after Copthorne only managed to win 2 out of the 10 front crawl races. Not to be out down, Copthorne were soon back in the running with convincing wins during the breast stroke and back stroke races. As the afternoon went on the races became closer and closer some even coming down to...

Swim Champ 2012 Please click on the link for the draft schedule for the Swimming Championships taking place on Tuesday, 3 July at 6.00pm

The Hurstpierpoint Team looked just that bit stronger and fitter as time after time their freestyle swimmers came in just ahead of ours. Perhaps lost pool time at the end of last term was to blame? Perhaps Christmas was just a little too good? Perhaps the journey to Hurst too long? Whatever the reason we were in second place and needed to do something about it and quick. I’m pleased to say that from then on, every swimmer on the team played their part. We fought back through the more technical...

The ‘A’ Team were again in action this afternoon against Cumnor House. Unlike the last time that we met Cumnor, we were able to field an almost full complement of ‘A’ Team swimmers. This meant the gala was much more competitive and much closer. The lead changed hands constantly during the course of the gala and we were in a strong position after the individual events. The relays were once again our downfall and in spite of some good starts and take overs, we lacked speed...

A most enjoyable home gala against Ashdown House. The ‘A’ Team swam particularly well to come 1st in 16 of the 21 events. This gave us 101 points to Ashdown ‘A’ Team’s 81 points. I was pleased to see some of the work that has been done in swimming training paying off, particularly with the starts and turns. The ‘B’ team had a tougher time against the Ashdown House ‘B’ team and were equal on points going into the final round of relays. Unfortunately...

Year 2 enjoyed a very successful afternoon playing football and swimming at  Ardingly Pre-Prep on Thursday.   Very well done to all our children who behaved impeccably, kicked  professionally and swam like dolphins.  The footballers just had the edge over Ardingly, as did the swimmers although there were no official scores from the swimming pool.   Thank you also to the parents who came and supported us.
