Copthorne (5) – Cumnor (4) It was not quite strawberries and cream weather but the rain did manage to stay away for the girls to complete their first tennis match of the term against Cumnor House. Copthorne’s 1st pair, Katie and Sofia, dominated the afternoon by winning all three of their matches with superb ground strokes and a wide variety of shots. If the wind was not making it hard to return the ball, Katie’s serves sure did the job of keeping the opposition on their toes. Roselly and...

On Tuesday the girl’s tennis team played hosts to Cumnor House. The rain managed to stay away and it turned out to be a great afternoon for tennis. Charlotte and Katie dominated the afternoon winning all their matches comfortably. Both players demonstrated some fantastic forehand and backhand winners all around the court. Amber and Sofia did themselves proud; the two of them had the longest matches and rallies and fought all the way until the end. They came away with one win and narrowly missed...

In the absence of the year 8 group it was down to the year7′s to defend the title that we won last year. It was always going to be a big ask so more of a learning experience. We lost narrowly to Windlesham in the opener when with alittle more thought we should have won. We were then well beaten by both Cottesmore and Cranleigh before rounding off the day in fine stylewith a convincing win against Skippers Hill. It was a good day and 4th overall was not entirely a bad result considering the...

Copthorne (3) – Cottesmore (6) It turned out to be a great afternoon for tennis. All three pairs played some outstanding rallies that went on and on and on….. Jo and Katie’s match against Cottesmore’s 2nd pair was a nail bitter and went down to the last game to decide the outcome. Their unbeaten run unfortunately came to an end against Cottesmores 1st pair, they were just simply awesome. Meg and Ronnie (who enjoyed themselves the most) came up with some fantastic points, yes Meg you have...

The scene was set with perfect weather for our tennis match against Brambletye this Tuesday. The first round of matches got underway quite quickly, and it was immediately clear that it would be quite a close fought contest, though Brambletye’s first and second pair looked good. Our first pair took a while to get into their stride and the first round set the scene for the whole match with Brambletye taking 2 of the 3 sets. This trend continued in the next two rounds which were shortened...

On Tuesday 3rd May the girls tennis team travelled to Cumnor for their first match. One would not have thought that the girls had only one practice under their belts. All three pairs played some fantastic tennis, even the wind didn’t put them off. Katie and Joanna showed why they were the first pair by winning all their matches. Charlotte and Sofia (who has only just started to play tennis) won one of their matches and came close to winning the other two but it was not to be. Although not winning...

Being aware that this match was going to be lot tougher than last week’s match against Cumnor, the girls stepped onto the courts with a positive frame of mind and a willingness to do their best and enjoy their tennis. All three pairs got off to a slow start losing their first round matches. With a few pointers here and there the girls set off to improve on their scores. Joanna and Katie looked like a different pair and cruised through their next match. Although our 2nd and 3rd pairs lost their...

Joanna and Katie were the top pair against Cumnor, winning two out of their three matches. They combined well together, having good rallies and even some better winners. Our second and third pair Meg/Sophie and Veronica/Harriet were unlucky not to win any matches; the games were very close but just fell short on the crucial points this did not dampen their spirits, they enjoyed every moment. Thanks to all the parents who braved the chilly weather to come and support. HP
