With a fairly young side, Copthorne travelled to Cumnor to play their first tennis match. Our first pair of Katherine and Romy did well by winning two out of their three matches, with Katherine making some good passing shots and solid serves. Joanna, Meg, Harriet and Veronica were excited and not afraid of their older opponents. They made some good rallies, and won a few games. Although not winning the match, the girls enjoyed the day and came away with a better understanding of the game....

As soon as we arrived at Cumnor, the boys went straight onto the courts to start their matches. From the word go it looked like it was going to be a tough day for our boys. Only Ben and Bradley managed to come away with a win, they nearly made it two, only nar-rowly losing 5-6 to Cumnor’s first pair. There were many good rallies and scores that went to deuce, we were just not lucky enough to win the crucial points. HP

The Boys Tennis Team travelled to Cottesmore on Monday and our 6 lads played as well as they could but were out-done on the day. Ben Swadling and Bradley Gayler won our only match ironically against Cottesmore’s top pairing, and Jonny Howard and Henry Dayus also played in some hard fought matches. Well done also to the third seeds Thomas Walker and Mathias Afione who tried hard against boys two years older than them
