Year 3 Vegetable garden

Thanks to the Fete Committee and Mr Lee the year 3 children have a wonderful flower and vegetable garden in front of the New Block. We  are also grateful to Mr Hall (Nicholas 3KW) for coming to help us fill up the planters and then to build us a natural hazel wigwam for our runner beans and tomatoes. We have also planted carrots (just coming through), lettuce (this looks like cress Mrs Wade), cabbage and cucumbers (feel the frost has got these). We will watch these plants grow over the summer term and hopefully be able to take some of our produce read the full post »

Abseil Tower, Climbing Wall and Zip Wire

After nearly twelve months we have received planning permission for our Abseil and Climbing tower. The expected start date for construction is 13 February 2012. The tower will be ten meters high with two Climbing routes and two Abseil routes. The Zip Wire will launch from the top of the tower and will be approximately 120 meters in length. This will be an exciting and exhilarating new activity base for the school.

Year 7 Shoreham trip by Jack Hirchfield

The year 7 trip to Shoreham was fantastic; it was a really great experience and tonnes of fun. Undoubtedly the rock climbing and problem solving were amongst my favourite activities. Collectively we all gave our own contributions, however big or small throughout all the activities. I personally learned that in life we all come across mountains and valleys that we have to conquer but the most important thing is to never work alone in anything you do. After this trip i think we as a year group are closer.

LIBRARY

Our Pre-Prep Library is now up and running. All the classes have a ½ hour session every week, during which time they are read a story and then have a chance to browse through the books, choosing one to keep for the following week. This week our stories were ‘Pants’ and ‘More Pants’, which were much enjoyed! We will be running special library activities and competitions, so take a look at the Library Express boards for details of forthcoming events. This week’s activity is ‘Design you own special pants’ – we can’t wait to see the results and make our read the full post »

FRED THE FISH

Mrs Prowley’s class had a new member arriving this week, a goldfish named Fred. Each child will take it in turns to feed Fred and help to clean his tank out each week. Many thanks to Lucy Jones for the surprise present. We promise to take good care of Fred, maybe even getting a friend for him soon.
