Chess End of year Grand Prix at Worthing – incredible Copthorne Prep success

| May 28, 2012 | Chess, Prep Success

Sussex Junior chess hosted the end of year Grand Prix at Worthing on a hot and sunny 26 May. A total of 134 children competed for handful of prizes in the ‘Under 8′n ‘Under 11′ and ‘Under 18′ sections. As usual, Copthorne prep was well represented….. But would we take home any prizes?

A huge ‘well done’ to Daniel (Under 11 Major 2nd place and medal winner), Zevon (Under 8 2nd place, medal winner), Amadip (Under 8 3rd place, medal winner)  Madeline (Under 11 Major, medal winner), Jamie  (Under 18 minor, medal winner). Adam was equal top under 9 and Gabes won an Arbiters Prize and was also an under 11 medal winner.

The attached photograph shows it all – if you look very hard there are 5 Copthorne children in the photograph but they are difficult to spot given the amount of silverware that they brought home.

All of the children were well behaved and terrific ambassadors for the school.
