We offer a variety of options for Parents who choose not to take advantage of our boarding facilities but who still require supervision for their children outside of normal school hours.
Early Morning Drop Off
Pupils may arrive from 7:30 am where they will be supervised initially in the Rendall Room and after 8:00 am in their Form rooms. Breakfast Club is also available for pupils who do not have time to eat before leaving home. They join the boarders for a cooked breakfast each morning from 7:30 am. Places for Breakfast Club can be booked either on a weekly or ad hoc basis by emailing the Head of Boarding.
After School Activities / Prep.
Normal home time is at 4:40 pm (3:45 pm on a Wednesday) but for those who cannot be collected at this time we offer a range of after school activities to suit all tastes. Many of the activities are run by members of the teaching staff although a few require specialist coaches and these may incur an additional charge. Some of the older pupils make use of this time to complete their Prep which avoids the need to work at home later in the day.
Tea is available for all pupils at 5:20 pm. Pupils expecting to leave at this time are supervised by the resident staff and gap students until they can be collected.
After Tea Supervision
After tea, all pupils join together to be supervised by the resident staff and gap students. Boarders and the older children are expected to complete their Prep at this time whilst the younger children can play outside or in the computer room until they are collected. Day pupils who are still at school by 7:00 pm will usually join in the boarder’s activity. The final pick up time for day pupils is 8:00 pm.
The school runs its own holiday club ‘Hi5’ for 10 weeks of the year (14 weeks for Mini Hi5). Hi5 is only available to pupils from the school and is managed and run by staff from the school. Open from 8.00 am until 6.00 pm it offers a range of fun activities to suit all ages including swimming, trips to the woods, adventure playground, baking, art & crafts, bouncy castle fun, ball games, team games and parachute games. For further details, please contact Hi5.
In the weeks during the long summer holiday when Hi5 is closed, the school hire their facilities to an outside organisation which runs holiday clubs and sports coaching for children in 9 venues around Sussex and Kent. Originally started by a member of the Copthorne Teaching Staff over 30 years ago, Pied Piper has now grown into a hugely successful venture. Further details can be found on their website.
