1st XI Football v Cottesmore

    Cottesmore    2    Copthorne    4
Scorers:  Jordan (2), James and Jamie
Our man of the match:  James

It was a gloriously sunny afternoon this week as we kicked off our 5th match of the season at Cottemore, but
the recent rain had left its mark; there were 3 large puddles down one side of the pitch.  This rather disrupted
the flow of the game as whenever the ball went into one of these, it stopped dead, and would only emerge after
a lot of furious kicking and mud-slinging in the quagmire.  We did manage to play some very nice football, and
I still don’t really understand why we were 1-0 down at half time, though our failure to convert several clear
chances probably was the root cause.  Everything changed in the second half with Jordan scoring within
minutes of the restart, snapping up the rebound from his own shot on goal.  Our second followed soon after,
with man of the match James dashing on to a good through ball after some nice play and finishing coolly
inside the far post.  Sam and Oscar performed extremely well as our full backs, and it was a shot from
Edward on the right that led to another fumble which Jordan snaffled.  Our last goal was a sweetly struck free
kick from our captain Jamie, and we coasted home though Cottesmore did manage to get one back with
minutes to spare.  Well played to all the boys; one of our best performances this season!
