1st XI Football v Lancing Prep

Copthorne   3    Lancing   4

 Scorers:  Jordan (2), James
Our man of the match:  James
We may have narrowly lost in this match against Lancing, but as far as performances go, it was one of our
best of the season thus far.  Both sides passed the ball around very nicely, and Lancing went ahead after a
misjudged goal kick which went straight to one of their players.  To make things worse, Lancing scored
another goal within a few minutes, and we went in at half time trailing by two goals.  James was clearly our
best player in the first half, working hard to close the opposition down.
The second half kicked off, and it was a half that we clearly dominated.  Andrew did a good job of closing
down Lancing’s playmaker, and Morgan continued to torture their right back with some strong runs down our
left.  It didn’t take us long to pull a goal back, a nicely finished left footed shot from Jordan placed in the far
corner after more good work from James.  Lancing hit us with another goal, but we responded, this time with
James himself scoring after a nice bit of passing down the left, where Oscar was strong for us all game.
Jordan scored again to get our equaliser with another well taken shot.  It looked like we might go on and win
the game, but with literally a minute or so left, Lancing hit us with a good counter attack which finished us off
after a few fluffed clearances.  Well done to the whole team for playing as a team and putting together some
attractive passing football.
