1st XV v St Christopher’s Hove

After a good session against St Aubyn’s last week this was the first real test of the team and they did not disappoint. A last minute reduction in numbers down to 12 did not upset the squad. The opening 5 minutes were very tense and then a good ruck from the forwards created quick ball which the backs converted into the opening try for Jez. After that there was only one team init as the confidence rose and the boys produced some really good rugby. Joe kicked well and the 24 – 0 half time scoreline was richly deserved. Despite replacements and players playing out of position the second half continued as the first had finished as good possession from the forwards was converted into points by the backs with a try from Sam P-S being the pick of the scores. Earlier in the day Jamie had been made captain and he certainly led from the front with real encouragement throughout the game. It was verymuch a team performance from 1 to 15 and is the best possible start to the season. Lots of work to do but the boys Know what it feels like to win and I think that they enjoyed it. Well played.
