Colts A Hockey v Cumnor – Won 2-0

Fixtures against Cumnor have always been fiercely contested. With many improvements from previous matches, this turned into a superb match. Copthorne enjoyed a majority of the possession and looked very dangerous on the break throughout the entire game. The girl’s showed a range of skills, passes and use of space, also the physical work rate which was put in by everyone is something to be commended.

Ella C maintained her position in central midfield and was able to control the game, whilst directly behind her Sheen and Katie were performing brilliantly to stop any attacks and ensured that Cumnor did not get near the goal. This made Jemima Scott’s job in goal fairly easy, she was only called upon a few times to make a couple of straightforward clearances.

Rosie, Khushi, Josie and Jemima C worked industriously up front and on the wings to ensure we had plenty of attempts on goal and kept the attacking mode of the game flowing.

Copthorne’s first goal came in true Jemima C fashion, being in the right place at the right time to finish off the attacking move created by Ella C.

The second half once again saw Copthorne on the attack, with most of the possession and territory. Khushi was extremely unlucky not to have scored a couple as she had the most attempts on goal. All of the girl’s hard work and consistent pressure eventually paid off with the teams 2nd goal, this time it was Rosie putting the ball in the back of the net.

Congratulations to Ella C and Josie for being voted players of the match. This was the girl’s best performance and all of them should be highly commended for their efforts.

Team: Jemima S (GK); Katie; Sheen; Ella C; Rosie; Josie; Khushi and Jemima C.
