Colts A Indoor Hockey v Cottesmore – Won 1-0

The Colts A’s took on Cottesmore for their 2nd indoor hockey match of the term. As the only team to come away with a win the previous week, the girls were really looking forward to maintaining their form. Copthorne went onto the attack from the offset and kept pressing for most of the first half. Sheen and Katie hardly had to touch the ball as Rosie and both Ella’s closed the ball down early from Cottesmore’s free hits. Copthorne were almost camping in the oppositions D, with one shot on target after the next. If it was not for their goalkeeper and her brilliant saves, Cottesmore would have conceded at least 5 goals. It wasn’t until the 11 minute (and a little help from the defender) that allowed Rosie to score from a penalty corner.

The 2nd half saw both teams play some fantastic hockey, moving the ball quickly from one goal to the other. It could have been any ones game as Cottesmore could have levelled or Copthorne extending their lead.

Sheen and Katie had a fair amount of work to do this half but they were solid as ever, stopping most of the threats before the ball entered our D. On the occasions they did break, Neve was on hand to clear the remaining danger.

It was a really close and even match as both teams had their moments but well done to Copthorne who maintained their winning streak. Congratulations go to Katie for being voted player of the match for her superb defending and positional play.

Team: Neve; Katie; Sheen; Ella D; Rosie (1); Ella C and Josie.
