Colts B v Pennthorpe

A crisp winters afternoon in the Surrey countryside welcomed the boys, who had been working hard this week on their formation in open play. As the game started the wind picked up which brought the temperature down and this seemed to have effect the 1st half performance, missed tackles and poor decision making enabled Pennthorpe to run in 4 unanswered tries. A more spirited effort was called for in the 2nd half and the forwards delivered this with Tom G often stealing the ball and making valuable yards unfortunately our back division didn’t click this afternoon with no one in the back line carrying the ball forward and too many missed tackles meant that any work carried out by the likes of Lani, Will and Tom up front was not put to use. As the game moved towards it’s climax Pennthorpe produced 3 further tries. Pennthorpe ran out comfortable and deserved winners but credit to both sides who played the game in a fantastic spirit. See you on the field for some tackling practice on Thursday.   IP
