Colts As : Copthorne 0 Cottesmore. 1
Once again we were away, this time playing against Cottesmore on their rather small and congested pitch. Our boys started well, and looked dominant in the first half, but we struggled to find space and were restricted to shooting from outside the box thanks to some good defending from Cottesmore. Nemo came close and so did Beau, but the Cottesmore keeper was in fine form and proved equal to the task of keeping out several good drives from range. In the second half our hosts came out fighting and one of their players found himself in a little space after a bit of pin-ball in our box, and was able to smash a shot home from close range off the post. We still had the best of it, but Cottesmore defended very well to keep their lead right to the final whistle. A disappointing result in a game where we made a lot of the play.
Colts Bs: Copthorne 3 Cottesmore 1
Our Bs played very well today and controlled the game for pretty much the full thirty minutes though Cottesmore had one pacy forward who did cause us some trouble. At half time, we were disappointed not to be ahead, and this soon changed after some excellent work from Luke on the left who linked up with Louis, who in turn set up Ben for a well taken goal. Gus was involved in our second, winning the ball and then playing a nice pass through for Ben to finish nicely to bag his second goal. Cottesmore pulled one back, after the ball hit Gus’s hand in the box and a penalty was awarded. Things become tough for a while as Louis had to come of with a slight muscle strain, but Nick came on and filled in as striker, and he wrapped up the game for us with a nice shot past the keeper to leave us with a very solid victory. Amardip, Jacob and Kinshuk did have to stay alert in defence and they did very well to keep Cottesmore’s chances down to a minimum. Well done the Bs!
