U9B Football v Ardingly

On a mild day in the grounds of Copthorne the mighty undefeated U 9 B’s set out to continue their run and beat a strong Ardingly team. At kick off the team looked to be raring to go and put up a strong performance by putting together a few very nice plays which brought us right up to the box of the oppositions half, however after a few missed chances we were unable to turn those chances into goals. Soon after the opposition made a few strong charges which eventually led to them putting one in the back of the net. They soon followed in quick succession and the score was 2-0 at half time. After munching on some oranges the boys were ready to go out and put in a strong second half, the opposition scored one easy goal after a charge from their striker and the boys heads were dropping. Ali Hough, Christopher Francis and Antony Nabar however kept pounding away at the defence and Antony was able to slip one through past the keeper, great goal!! The opposition were awarded a penalty which Alexander Hall superbly saved however Ardingly put another 3 goals on in consecutive plays which brought the score to 6-1. All the boys were looking exhausted however Louis Lorgis-Leesh and Freddie Lear in his debut match put in some strong defence to prevent the opposition from piling on some more goals. In the second to last play the Ardingly attack scored one more to make the full time score 7-1. It was a good showing by the Copthorne U9 B’s however the Ardingly team were too strong in the end, hopefully next match we can see a better result.

Man of the Match: Ali Hough.  MH
