U9A Football v Cottesmore

The Magnificent 7 strike again! It was another nice day at Copthorne as we welcomed the boys from Cottesmore school to our grounds where we had the privilege of using the Colts pitches!

The match was very tightly contested which doesn’t reflect on the score board. However, we raced out of the blocks early with Luca Anderson slotting not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 first half goals to put us in a comfortable position going into the change of ends.

The second half saw both teams play some particularly good football with Harrison Cowx and Samuel Persad playing some world class through balls and passes which was a pleasure to watch! By half way through the second half I made the decision to make wholesale changes and change up the positions which led to Liban Abdulle going into goal after his ever reliable performance in defence which was topped off with an excellent corner goal! The rest of the team was switched around which led to more goals with Cosmic Rustom our regular goal keeper getting himself on the score sheet. Louis Riley who continues to impress me as he improves every match, scored a nicely worked goal to make the final score 7-0! Essam Anwar on his debut for the under 9s particularly impressed me with his excellent ball playing skills and decision making.

Overall we put in another very strong team performance as we managed to continue our excellent start to the season with yet another win! So hopefully we can continue this great run of form into the future matches!

The man of the match performance without a doubt has to go to Sam who played outstandingly in the middle of the park as he was running back and helping out with the defence and picking up amazing through balls for the entire match so well done Sam and everyone else on an excellent performance!
