Under 9 A’s Triangular Tournament

The day started out fantastically as the weather was on our side and most of the year 3 and 4 boys got to travel to the Caterham School. Upon our arrival the boys were all astonished as the pitches were in immaculate condition and we were all raring to go. Going into the first match with an undefeated start to the season we had loads of confidence as we looked to continue our impressive start to the season. Little did we know that the Caterham School we were up against all play club football outside of school. The first half was so tightly contested with great displays of attacking football from both teams. We went into the break 1-0 down due to a great bit of play by the opposition striker. The team talk at half time was very motivational as we weren’t prepared to go down without a fight!

Unfortunately there was a very dubious decision made which led to a 2nd goal and from there our heads dropped and we conceded a few more. However as they always last goal wins and that we did! By a great individual effort from Luca Anderson. So the final score was 5-1 to a much stronger and bigger team.

The second match against a very strong Hazelwood School was very similar to the first in that it was very tightly contested. The final score of a 4-0 loss doesn’t reflect on how well we actually performed. Despite the score line we showed great heart and character to keep fighting to the final whistle.

Overall the day was a success, despite the result the boys performed admirably. The Man of the Tournament award has to go to Cosmic Rustom who was sensational in goal and Sam Persad who ran, ran and ran. So well done boys. To the rest of the team we just need to bounce back bigger and better for Wednesday! JG
