U11A Rounders v Hazelwood – Lost 9½-14½

The U11’s did not get off to the greatest start against Hazelwood and found it hard to concentrate and settle into the game, as a result they let Hazelwood score far to many half rounders early on.Towards the end of the first innings though Copthorne picked their game up and their was some great work between, Roselly as bowler, Katie as backstop and Sofia as first post resulting in them stumping out three of Hazelwood’s batters at first post. Copthorne then went into bat and again the U11’s were slow to begin but once they got into their stride there was some great rounders scored by Becca, Katie and Jessica. At the end of the first innings it was 8½ to Hazelwood and 5½to Copthorne so it was all to play for in the second half!

In the second innings  the U11’s again struggled to compose themselves, although they were a bit more together than the first innings with Isabella taking two super catches and only allowing Hazelwood to score  6 rounders. Copthorne then went into bat and with a mixture of the poor weather, Hazelwoods good fielding and questionable decisions being made against them the U11s only managed to score 4 rounders in this innings, making the final score 14½ to Hazelwood to 9½ to Copthorne. A good attempt today girls and I do not really think the scoreline reflected the match however we need to pick up our game for next week!    TC
