U9A Rounders v Hurst

The U9 girls never disappoint me, even if we lose the girls still seem to have a smile on their faces. Today we had a super reason to be smiling as we beat Hurst and put out a fantastic performance. We started off batting and every person scored a ½ off their first bat some girls getting more. Alys was finding the space and hitting well with Emily who just hit the ball and just ran managing to get a ½ or 1 rounder pretty much every time. Giving me a heart attack! Elizabeth also got a full rounder with some lovely hitting and running. We ended on 10 rounders.

It was Hurst’s turn to bat and within the space of about 6 minutes the Copthorne girls had already got 3 girls out. 3 fantastic catches from Elizabeth, Alys and Holly, Hannah also got a catch further into the game. With lovely backing up from Loren on 2nd post the girls fielded very well and stopped Hurst from getting a high score, they got 7 rounders in total.

The girls at half time were very excited that they were winning and I had to tell them that the game wasn’t over and that they still had another half to play until we had finished!!

It was our turn to bat again and we started to bump up the score again with rounders and ½ rounders. Our total altogether was 22 rounders at the end of the 2nd innings.

Alys lost concentration a little bit with her  bowling and gave away a few ½ rounders for no balls but this didn’t matter as we had got 22 and Hurst ended with 14. We made a few silly mistakes fielding the 2nd time but with a lovely catch from Emily to get one of their best players out. Top scorer this week goes to Alys Cummins! Well played girls, lovely to have you again this week! LJ
