This was our first match played on grass and therefore it was a great opportunity to allow all the girls in the year group to play. The first team played well with our forwards now beginning to show a better understanding of positional play. There were some good passes and some strong defending which allowed us to reach half-time one goal up.
In the second half Cumnor managed to score but it wasn’t long before Copthorne scored making the end score 3-2.
However due to an error on my part one of our team had not been substituted during the game. Therefore Cumnor House kindly agreed to play an extra five minutes. This was very generous of them as their team had been playing for a full thirty minutes.
Although this was a bit of fun it was decided that as Cumnor had been such good sports we would call it a draw; they did score two extra goals in the extra five minutes.
The match proved to be very enjoyable and our girls showed that they are beginning to understand the game better and use the skills they have been practising during lessons.
Hopefully our spectators enjoyed the match and I would like to thank them for their continued support. LD
