This was a very close match as it was only in the final quarter that Copthorne took the lead. In the first quarter Walstead took the first centre pass and although both sides seemed to be evenly matched we were unable to score any goals. In the second quarter Copthorne managed to score one goal after several attempts. Walstead worked well to get into spaces whereas our girls seemed less organised; our marking was too slow and our passes were very weak. In the second half the team was more focused and there were some good interceptions from Jessica, Rebecca and Roselly. Our attackers worked hard to get the ball into the shooting area where Jessica and Victoria tried to shoot. It was really in the last five minutes of the match that Copthorne displayed the type of playing they are capable of. With two minutes left Walstead were one goal behind and despite a good a tremendous effort on their part, time was on our side.
The girls did not do themselves justice today as they can play better netball. However a win is a win and one thing must be said that when motivated this is a team that can really pull it out of the bag. Player of the match – Rebeccca F LD
