It was great to get a first win of the season under our belts against what was an elusive Cottesmore team.  The game started well for both teams with plenty of attacking rugby and solid defence to match.  The scores remained even for the opening 8 minutes of play before Ben C used his speed to outpace the defence and score in the corner.  The same scorer doubled our lead shortly after and soon had a first half hat-trick to give us a commanding 3-0 lead at half time.  Although Ben C may have scored the tries it was down to the hard running and good support play from Luca, Austin and Sam S that gave us great field position.  Sam D and Jacob were quick to the ball in the scrum half position and Charlie and Ben B kept the defence water tight.  Akshay and Jamie shared the game time and didn’t look out of place.

The second half started poorly; now attacking up the slope we found it difficult to gain ground and conceded 2 quick tries.  A few stern words seemed to kick start the boys and we soon found ourselves with all of the possession and field position.  A bustling run from Luca saw him cross the try line; Ben C claimed his 4th of the afternoon and Sam S jinked his way over to wrap up the scoring.

I was very impressed with the commitment today, especially in the tackle area where Austin and Ben B were phenomenal.  This was a good team performance and a great way to end the term; well done boys!  MA
