U13 Rugby v Brambletye & Windlesham B

Games like today are all about achieving a balance and giving boys a game and that was certainly true. The idea was for a little triangular at the start of the season between ourselves, Windlesham B and Brambletye. Three short games was the order of the day with weather clear and sunny but penetratingly cold.

We were not involved in the opener which proved to be very one sided as Brambletye A’s were too strong for the hosts B team. Playing Brambletye we started poorly and went 1-0 down however by half time we were comfortably in control at 4-1 with Dan T confirming his electric pace. It was a scruffy game and the second half saw a spirited comeback from Brambletye managing to level the score. I have to say that we were not at our best, missing tackles and running sideways but Dan had the last word with a score with the final play giving us the win. Two games and two last minute winners I will take but we are going to have to improve in both attack and defence.

After a brief discussion the final match, quite rightly, did not take place and all the players beat a hasty retreat to the warmth of tea.

Cottesmore next week when I hope we will be at least back up to 12 a side. Thanks to Mrs Hawes for the very welcome hot chocolate!
