U9A Netball v Cumnor – Won 11-3

From the start we knew Cumnor were going to be strong competitors but the U9s held their nerve and played some great netball throughout the match today.  During the first quarter of the match Cumnor worked hard in defence and attack against Copthorne but the girls held their cool and just took the upper hand in this quarter. In the second quarter Copthorne started to gel better together as a team and their movement and passing around court was better, as a result when the whistle went for half time Copthorne were 6-3 up.

In the last two quarters of the match it was all to play for and there was some great netball played by both teams. The defenders Loren, Karina and Elizabeth were super throughout gaining valuable interceptions which the girls used in their favour. The centre court players Charlotte and especially Emily really got stuck into the game and their passing into the circle, as well as their interceptions got better and increased as the match went on. The shooters Alys and Holly continuously worked hard around and in the circle using Charlotte and Emily and each other to get the ball closer to the net. This certainly paid off as there was some great shooting and Copthorne won the match.

A fantastic result today against some tough competitor’s girls! It was some of the best netball I have seen played this season so far! Also well done to the other U9 team who battled hard against the other Cumnor team’s winning both their matches!  Let’s keep it up U9s!  TC
