U9A Rounders v Cranleigh – Won 19½-8½

The girls were up for this match as they always are, beating Hurst last week boosted their confidence. After a mix up at the start where we started of playing a totally different year group / school we got going!

We started fielding and with some lovely bowling from Alys and good focused catching as back stop from Karina we started off well. Everyone was awake and switched on. Emily had a fantastic game on 2nd post stumping two girls in the first innings, Elizabeth also stumped a player out. Loren did some excellent fielding and backing up of 2nd post. Where as Elizabeth produced a lovely bit of fielding even if it wasn’t the correct ‘gate position’ more of a dive on top,  it stopped the ball and she threw the ball nice and accurately to Emily. Hannah made some lovely catches and ran her hardest round the post when she found the space to hit in to, even if she was running very wide round the post she still got Copthorne a rounder! Nina had a consistent game batting again watching the ball well and deciding whether or not to run or not. Holly played well on 1st, stumping one girl out and being the first girl to move when there is a left handed person batting. Karina had an excellent game as backstop making some lovely throws to Alys and staying focused and catching two girls out behind when they were going for back wards hits. Well played also to Charlotte and Liliana.  Thank you very much to the supporters for braving the wet weather, the crowd seems to grow every week!

Player of the match goes to Karina! Well done girls, same again next week! LJ
