Results from the East Grinstead Swimming Club Sprint Championships held on Friday 8th May 2009 Harry Lee came in second place for the Under 10 category and got bronze for freestyle, and silver
for backstroke.

Rebecca Frost won the trophy for first prize overall for the girls aged 9 and under. This was a significant achievement as she is still only 8 years old! In addition to the overall first prize she also won gold medals in 3 out of the 4 strokes as follows :

  • Backstroke – 50 metres – 1st breaking both the club and championship record.
  • Breaststroke – 50 metres – 1st breaking both the club and championship record.
  • Freestyle – 50 metres – 1st breaking the club record.
  • Butterfly – 25 metres – 4th.

Edward Mendola competed in 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke and 25m Butterfly. Ed finished 2nd, 2nd, 1st and 3rd respectively giving him overall 2nd place in the U11 category. On Sunday 10th May, Nia Thomas attended The Olympos Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath, for the Ryushikan Karate Grading. She achieved her 2nd Brown belt. It was a very tough assessment but Nia passed with flying colours. The next level she will attend will be for her Black Belt.
