COPTHORNE SUCCESS STORIES

Congratulations to Freya Finnegan, Daniel Gooda, Ben Voller, Joshua Higgs, James Reid and Jamie Ward who all represented Copthorne at the 13th Worthing Open Junior Chess Tournament last Saturday. Freya was awarded the Arbiters Prize for fair and honourable play and was placed 3rd in the U8 Grand Prix series. Joshua was placed 2= in the U11 Majors and came 5th in the U11 Grand Prix series. Congratulations to Elise Gayler on a successful weekend’s horse riding. On Saturday she represented the Crawley & Horsham Pony Club at Chichester in a dressage and show jumping class and she was her team’s top performer achieving second place individually overall and thereby helping her team to a second place finish in the team competition also. On Sunday, she was competing in an open Cross Country event at Crabbet Park where she finished first, jumping a clear round in the optimum time and beating over 80 other riders. Well done to Sam Lloyd for slashing his golf handicap from 38 to 30 and Joe Lloyd from 32 to 28 during the first half of this year. A great achievement which requires practice, patience and persistence!

Well done to you all.
