Dancing & Drama success for Lucy Billingham-West
Lucy has spent several days over the Half Term holiday at the Orpington Festival of Dance. She found herself, once again, competing in large groups of up to thirty-five dancers, but managed nonetheless to be placed amongst the medal winners in every section she danced in – securing three silver and one bronze medal in her Ballet, Modern & Character solo and trio dances. She also performed at the Gala Premiere Awards on the final day of the Festival, for which she received a “special mention” for her musicality and expression in her Ballet performance.
Lucy has also had much success with recent dancing and drama examinations and awards. She achieved an A grade in her ISTD Grade 3 Ballet exam, which she was especially delighted with, as she managed to complete the syllabus in just two terms (having returned to dancing in January following a serious foot injury). She was also awarded the Musicality cup in the annual Roshe (School of Dance) prizegiving and joint second place in her group at Sussex (dance) Summer School.
Lucy also worked incredibly hard at the end of the summer term preparing for her Grade 3 Verse & Prose LAMDA exam and, fortunately, all the hard work paid off with a Distinction! Also on the drama front, Lucy was jointly awarded the Act One Beginners “Leading Star” award for her role as Small Alice in their February production of “Alice in Wonderland” at The Chequer Mead Theatre in their annual prizegiving ceremony. Lucy is now working on her Grade 3 Acting LAMDA, which she is due to be examined in at the end of November.
