During half term, Copthorne travelled all the way up the M25 to Essex for a stab at the East of England Show jumping Quaiifier for the National Championships. The format was 4 riders with the best three scores to count Unfortunately, Georgia Keenleyside had a riding accident the previous Sunday, Show jumping and broke her collar bone so the team were reduced to three. Therefore all the team members Roselly, Sophie and Harriet had to ensure they jumped clear to be in with a chance. The pressure was well and truely on…
In the 2’3″ Roselly with Chatters were first to go and produced a blisteringly fast clear round, Sophie and Harriet with ponies Jack and Grace, then followed up with perfect clear rounds. Copthorne went on to a well deserved first place and a spot in the National Finals. On to the 2’6″ where we were up against bigger horses, riders and over 15 teams . Well, the team performed brilliantly with all three riders and ponies yet again going clear with their times all below 40 secs respectfully.
A huge roar went up around the arena when Copthorne Prep were announced the winners and booked their second qualifying success at the nationals. Roselly rounded out the Copthorne dominance by being placed first individually in both the 2ft 3 and 2ft 6″ riding Misty Flight and Sophie as an individual came 5th.
Well done girls and Good Luck at the Championships in Buckinghamshire on the 22/23rd of October.
