Harvest Food

We have been very busy learning our Harvest poems. On the same theme of food we have rewritten the story of Oliver’s Vegetables who dug up different vegetables in his Grandad’s garden until he could find the potatoes to make his favourite food … chips!

We talked about our favourite vegetables, had a look at some leeks, carrots, celery, swedes, and parsnips. Then we went on to make vegetable soup. We practised our washing, peeling and cutting techniques, and tried hard not to cut our fingers in the process!

We have also learnt that an animal who only eats vegetables, plants and grass is called a herbivore and we remembered all of the animals that we saw at the British Wildlife Centre that are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.
