Strengthening Paper
administrator | May 9, 2012 | DT, Year 3
Year 3KW had the challenge to strengthen an A2 sheet of tissue paper so that it could hold at least a 100g weight. Working in pairs they came up with different solutions. Freddie and Elliott won the challenge by PVA glueing small sheets of the tissue paper together to make a very robust structure. We only had 1kg 900g in weight and it stood up to that without any problem. Ayush, Ethan and Jonathan decided to sellotape around their paper and the final structure supported 300g. Nura and Josie folded their paper in a rectangular shape and theirs held 200g. Nicholas and Deba stapled theirs together and Kinshuk and Amardip pritt sticked theirs together and both held the 100g weight. Well done to all the other designs however they failed to support the 100g.
