This week Copthorne took on Great Walstead at Hockey! The girls were excited but also a little nervous as this was their first hockey match. Captain for today was Emma Nathaniel.
At first the girls were a little panicked around the ball and tended to crowd getting into each other’s space. As the girls began to settle we had some good passing and interceptions with some great defending from Jemima Caldwell. Despite the girls best efforts the score at half time was 1-0 to Great Walstead.
The girls started off the second half fantastically and had really listened well to their half time team talk. The girls were much more spread out and looked strong in attack. We had a few very near misses on goal from Emma Nathaniel, Annabel Preen and Emily Goodfellow but didn’t quite manage to score! Jemima Caldwell remained strong in defence and made some great saves on goal too! At the final whistle the final score was 5-0 to Great Walstead. The game was much closer than the score!
My player of the match was Jemima Caldwell. Well done to all the girls who played!
