UN Art Ambassador visits Copthorne Prep – Summer 2017

Ibiyinka Alao, the UN Art Ambassador visited Copthorne this week along with Mrs Aina, Executive Director of the Lightup Foundation. The children have been part of an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest sequin mosaic ever made by sticking sequins onto the largest canvas bag every made (it is the size of a small house, but we have been sent just two small patches of canvas).

This is a global project to bring attention to the plight of displaced children across the globe with particular focus on Article 42 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: “the right to know your rights”.

Ibi is an artist in his own right and was simply inspirational. He talked about art being “frozen music” and the importance of turning your weaknesses into strengths. I am sure your children will tell you all about his visit!
