Year 4 visit the Roman Palace at Fishbourne

The first of December brought bright blue skies to the south coast as Year 4 made their way to Fishbourne in the school minibuses. The workshop on Celts and Romans saw the children participating in a variety of activities, using their knowledge so far of the period, as well as the evidence in front of them to make important choices. After an interesting video on how the palace was discovered in the 1960s the children were ready for their packed lunches! A quick play on the Roman mounds or should I say a battle between the Celt and Roman armies left them ready to look round the museum and see the beautiful mosaics that have survived nearly 2000 years. This was followed by a much needed shop and then the minibuses were strangely quieter on the return journey. Thanks to all who came with us and helped to make the day such a great success – Mr Jenkins you will have to come next year!
