Royal Observatory trip

A fascinating experince was had by all at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. The year 7’s who had recently been learning about the planets and the stars and moon, went off for the day to the Astronomy centre. First a Planetarium show……our students showed their knowledge and asked some pertinent questions……the Astronomist who lead the session was very impressed! Then time for a wander around the centre looking at Flamwell house and the meridian line, along with the interactive exhibits in the astronomy centre. Time for a quick lunch and then a hands on lecture with another Astronomist where the students learned to measue and track the speed of an exoplanet orbiting another Star. Hugo worked it out to be about 2 days! Just time then for a quick visit to the shop for a souvenir and then a brisk walk back to the coach arriving home in time for tea! Everyone enjoyed the trip and had their inerest in our solar system stimulated.
