Chess Gigafinal

On 14 and 15 July the annual chess ‘Gigafinal’ took place in Reading. This is a prestigious ¬†event where the qualifying top 2,300 under 18s in the country battle against each other in 6 long matches – the children score a point for a win, half a point for a draw and no points for a loss.

As usual, Copthorne prep was well represented and scored incredibly well:

Jamie Ward – Under 12 – 4 points
Daniel Gooda – Under 11 – 3 points
Madeline Liu – Under 9 – 5 points and 2nd place prizewinner

Amardip Ahluwalia – Under 8 – 5 points and 3rd place prizewinner

Well done to all Copthorne Prep school pupils for qualifying for the event and for doing so well.
