Huge Copthorne Chess Success!!

The Mid Sussex Chess Spring Tournament took place in Crawley on Saturday, 20 April 2013.

Thirty eight children from seventeen schools all over Sussex took part in this tournament which attracted many of the best players in the county.

Four children from Copthorne Prep took part and we did incredibly well, coming away from the tournament with most of the trophies! The children played 5 games in total; each game carried a maximum 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw or one point for a loss.

Many congratulations to Zevon Rustom for coming first in the tournament with an incredible 15 points with his brother, Cosmic Rustom scoring an admirable 10 points. Daniel Gooda came joint second with an amazing 14 points, narrowly missing out on joint first with Zevon. Daniel Wright scored an excellent 5 points at his first ever tournament and was awarded the trophy for Best Year 3 boy in the county – well done Daniel!
