English and drama teacher turned fiction writer, Andrew Hammond, will be back at Copthorne Prep School on Tuesday 4th October at 4.30pm, signing copies of his first book ‘CRYPT’. A prolific educational author, Andrew’s first foray into the world of fiction blends teenage spies and horror with ghost-busting and, according to one reviewer, ‘oozes creepiness, but in a good way’! CRYPT, the Covert Response Youth Paranormal Team, led by star agent Jed Lester, is called in to investigate the unexplained when the police are at a loss. This first book deals with a string of brutal attacks on the London Underground, apparently committed by 17th century highwaymen. Jed, together with his new recruit Bex, have to work out what has caused the spirits of these\dangerous men to return to the streets of London before they wreak more death and destruction. In addition to his writing, Andrew is an educational consultant and motivational speaker, delivering courses across the country on creativity, teaching and learning and all aspects of English teaching. He is founder and leader of the Independent Curriculum which launched on 1st September 2011. Andrew was Deputy Head at Copthorne Prep, as well as Head of English and Drama, from 2008 to 2010, when he left to pursue his creative writing career. The CRYPT series is intended to comprise 5 titles, set in different cities around the world, all with hundreds of years of intrigue and historical interest. If the next four books turn out to be such good page turners, fun but creepy and scary.
