Next Wednesday is Remembrance Day and at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month the whole school gathers outside the Chapel for 2 minutes of silent
reflection to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the First World War and all subsequent wars, that sadly are still going on around the world today. The period of silence starts when the Chapel clock strikes 11 am and ends with Zevon R (Yr 7) playing the Last Post on his cornet from the roof of the Chapel Tower.
Parents are very welcome to join us for the 2 minutes silence and then for coffee in the Rendall Room afterwards.
Some of you may be aware that the Chapel clock installed in 1919 and the Tower extension is actually a War Memorial erected by the school in memory of Copthorne children and staff who died in the Great War. Their photographs are still on display inside the Chapel and have been since 1919.
Children will need to remember to bring in a £1 minimum donation for a poppy next Wednesday.
