This year the whole school gathered together in the Sports Hall to celebrate Remembrance Day. As well as some lovely hymns, the choir sang ‘The Lord bless you and keep you’; the Heads of School read ‘In Flanders Field’; Emi & Matthew F read ‘The Soldier’ by Rupert Brooke, and other Year 8 children read out the names of the 22 ex pupils and staff from Copthorne Prep School who died during World War 1.
After the service in the Sports Hall, we all gathered outside the front of the school underneath the Chapel Tower. Ewan played The Last Post and Reveille either side of the 2 minute silence, during which the school flag was lowered to half-mast.
Oaks & Reception children all made individual poppies to mark the occasion.
